In the UK, the LGBTQ+ community does not have a museum. Invaluable stories of the community’s experiences and struggles for equality are being lost.
Levi’s as a long-time ally, has partnered with Queer Britain to finally establish that museum. This year OMD UK & our friends at Exposure, created a campaign that invites the LGBTQ+ community to donate their stories in the ‘Open Letters to Queer Britain’ campaign.
Each heartfelt letter is posted for free, thanks to a partnership with the Post Office, each will become part of the living collection – used in Queer Britain’s growing archive of the LGBTQ+ community. Historians at the Kent and Goldsmiths’ University will use these letters to understand the lived experience of this often-marginalised community.
At OMD UK, we are delighted to be communicating such an important message on behalf of Queer Britain and our client, Levi’s- who themselves are a long-term advocate for equality of all. Having received numerous shortlists for our work in support of Queer Britain in 2019, we are excited to see all the amazing stories come together; ultimately providing a beacon of hope and much-needed representation for LGBTQ+ people the community.
