We’re Nick & Dennis. We’re a creative team and we’ve just finished our placement at OMD Create.
We come from the School of Communication Arts in Brixton which has a long-time partnership with OMD UK. Throughout the years we’ve welcomed great mentors to our studio from Hamid Habib, to Ann Wixley and Daniella Murphy.
One of the key takeaways from working in the creative department of a media agency is that no matter how great your idea is, it won’t drive any reaction if it’s not placed in front of the right people. You need to think of the best creative ways and platforms to promote your idea. Understand people’s agenda to earn a share of their life.
Unlike other agencies, where ideas are siloed to the creative department, everyone here is involved in brainstorms. Which means you get a more diverse range of ideas.
The challenge for us was to come up with creative media ideas. Instead of being involved really early on with the creative brand direction, we had to work directly from advertising executions and build out from there – which differed a lot from our previous experiences.
As junior creatives, quite often ideas presented in portfolio seem a little disconnected from one execution to another. We now feel confident that our ideas can engage people in a multitude of relevant and unexpected channels.
