OMD UK’s reception played host to an evening of St Patrick’s Day trivia and merriment last week as we teamed up with TalkSPORT to host a pub quiz in celebration of their new digital radio stations.
TalkSPORT 2 (on-air now), TalkRADIO (launching 21st March) and Virgin Radio (set to launch from a moving train on March 30th) are all coming to air on the D2 digital multiplex and will offer listeners and brands alike a swathe of fantastic audio content to enjoy and engage with.
The event was opened by TalkSPORT’s own MD Callum Macaulay who highlighted the opportunities that lie ahead with a brand as powerful as Virgin returning to the airwaves and encouraged us all to engage closely with the beer/wine/cider on offer.
Callum then handed over to our quiz master and host for the evening, Tim Cocker, previously of Xfm Manchester fame and soon-to-be evening host of Virgin Radio. He led our teams through a challenging round of questions and it was nip-and-tuck for a while between the front runners but in the end only one team could win.

It had everything a good pub quiz needs, from questionable team names to an open bar and masses of pizza. There was a surprise for an unsuspecting and over-confident OMDer, too, when it was revealed that our Quiz Master can drink a pint extremely quickly, as certified by Guinness World Records (of water of course – we would never condone the speedy consumption of alcoholic beverages).
