After two months of preparing, a pitch to the death, and multiple expletives used by our fearless leader the Wixinator, we finally made it to Cannes.
As we sat in the taxi en-route to the town itself we were a very anti-social bunch, tweeting away about the BIG first question that had just been released on #legrandescreen. You can imagine our excitement when 30 minutes later – after quickly dumping our bags – we saw the question in all its glory! Passers-by looked at us in amusement as we squealed on La Croissette and pointed excitedly at the screen.
After this exciting incident the day just got better. We headed straight to the Palais to pick up our delegate passes, bags (and t-shirts!) – the bags came with more flyers than a door drop campaign. We carefully sifted through looking for the gems of interesting talks and speakers. All the flyers really illustrated just how full on this week is going to be, jam packed with amazing events and talks!
To finish off the day, we were welcomed with Prosecco and Canapes at the calm and tranquil OMD Oasis. There we regrouped with our PHD friends and made new friends with OMD’ers from around the globe. As the evening drew to a close we spotted a familiar spot of red in the crowd. There was La Wixley herself! We were reunited and with that our first day in Cannes drew to a close.
Until tomorrow,
Lee, Nicola, Rosie and Vicky
