What’s happened this week:

  • Twitter is clamping down on third party access to its API, in an attempt to create a ‘less fragmented ecosystem’.
  • Even faster food – hopefully. McDonald’s have announced a trial to allow users to pay for their meals via PayPal in an attempt to reduce waiting times.

What we have learned:

  • Mobile retail transactions set to quadruple, thanks to NFC. Set to hit the eye-watering $1.3trillion mark by 2017.
  • Online streams of BBC Olympic coverage in a 24 hour period exceeded those for the entirety of the 2010 World Cup.
  • Digital music sales (predicted) up to £5.5bn 2012; physical sales continue to fall away.
