OMD UK features in Campaign’s ‘Hot in 2018’ edition

2018 has been a year to remember here at OMD UK and it seems Campaign agrees, as they’ve included some of our brilliant people and campaigns in their ‘Hot in 2018’ December edition. Here’s a quick rundown in case you missed it.

First up, our award-winning work with Channel 4 to launch the second season of The Handmaid’s Tale picked up recognition as one of the best press and outdoor ads this year.

Here we gave the British public a taste of Gilead’s twisted fundamentalist state with a series of provocative censorship messages. We caused outrage everywhere, with a cover-wrap in the Metro, high impact DOOH placements at key commuter train stations and a Kindle wake screen takeover. Our work picked up a Gold at this year’s Media Week Awards and we scooped ‘Best Topical Campaign’ at the Newsworks Awards.

Also taking a spot on the best outdoor ads is our weather-reactive work with Leo Burnett and McDonald’s. We teamed up to turn the McDonald’s menu into weather icons for a digital out-of-home campaign that used real-time Met Office data to keep the public in the know about changing weather conditions in April. With an upturned box of fries to represent rain, a burger to signify a sunny day and a hot coffee to show a cloudy day ahead, our campaign grabbed people’s attention while they were out and about.

And we’re delighted that our Curiosity Rooms project for Google has been named as one of the best live experiences of 2018. To promote the Google Pixel 3, Google took over a prime spot on Piccadilly Circus for five weeks to create a three-storey space of interactive experiences to showcase the smartphone’s camera.

Finally, a shout out to a couple of our superstars. Vicky Fox, Managing Partner of Connections Planning, secured a spot on the top ten media planners list and our CEO, Dan Clays, featured on the top ten media suits list. Very well deserved!

We couldn’t be prouder of every single OMDer who has contributed to our incredible year.

We wish all our counterparts, partners and clients a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year from everyone here at the agency.

Share.
