SXSW 2015, Day 1: Your guide to the techiest talks in Austin

It’s that time of year again – SXSW Interactive Festival is back in Austin for five glorious days of keynotes and panels focusing on game-changing innovations in media, technology, and raw human capacity from some of the world’s most forward-thinking minds.

BIG ACTION, BIG CONTENT
On day one, SXSW gave us all a serious dose of adrenaline by exploring the latest breakthroughs in the technology used for documenting action sports. The panel, The Changing Face of Action Sports Media, featured athletes and executives from Teton Gravity Research, and Keith Sharman of CBS News’ 60 minutes.

GET OUT OR DIE TRYING
Heard of Room Escapes? If not, you soon will. They are the latest growing trend in live, social entertainment, the premise being that a small group of three-five people willingly enters a confined space, and attempts to MacGyver its way out in 15-30 minutes.

WHY WEARABLES?
The world of wearables has split in two, according to a panel at SXSW – and one branch is getting bigger, bolder, and more fashionable. While the tech world fixates on making its products ever-smaller, the smart money is on fashion, says Intel director of wearables, Sandra Lopez.
